Easy Christmas Simmer Pot Recipe
If you are sensitive to some candles (like me) then making simmer pots are a great way make your home smell amazing without the junk that can be found in some scented candles. You can change up the ingredients depending on the season or your mood. This Christmas simmer pot is full of fresh oranges and cranberries, cinnamon sticks. cloves, all-spice and nutmeg all mixed together will fill your home with the comforting smells of the holiday season.
Ingredients you will need for this easy Christmas simmer pot recipe: (the amounts will change depending on the size of your pot)
- Navel orange
- Fresh cranberries
- Cinnamon stick
- Whole cloves
- Whole all-spice
- Whole nutmeg, cut in half or quarters
Directions:
- 1.) Slice the orange and cut the nutmeg in half or in quarters.
- 2.) Put all the ingredients into a sauce pan or pot.
- 3.) Cover with water.
- 4.) Bring to a VERY low simmer. Enjoy!
Notes:
- The amount of each ingredient will depend on the size of your saucepan or pot. In a small sauce pan I used 1 orange, 1/2 cup cranberries, 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 tsp whole cloves, 1 tsp whole all-spice and about one whole nutmeg cut into quarters.
- Needless to say the water will evaporate as it simmers to keep an eye on it and add water periodically throughout the day.
