Even Easier Sourdough Discard Crackers

You may have seem my recipe for easy sourdough discard crackers which is pretty simple but these are my even easier sourdough discard crackers! This is truly the simplest way to make sourdough discard crackers. These crackers are thin and crispy and will take on the flavor of whatever you add to them. Keep them simple with a generous sprinkle of salt or add some finely chopped herbs or some grated cheese. You can be as creative as you’d like with these sourdough discard crackers. This recipe is perfect when you need to use up some sourdough discard but you want to keep it really simple.

Ingredients you will need for these even easier sourdough discard crackers:

  • 1 cup sourdough discard (not active)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: herbs, like rosemary, thyme, oregano, or everything bagel seasoning
  • Optional: shredded cheese, such as sharp cheddar, parmesan, or asiago

Directions:

  • 1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • 2.) Pour 1 cup of sourdough starter directly on the parchment paper. Spread out over the entire surface of the parchment.

In this batch of even easier sourdough discard crackers I had also added a sprinkle of freshly grated parmesan cheese along with the salt.
  • 3.) Sprinkle with salt. (These crackers need a lot of salt.) This is when you would sprinkle with the herbs and or cheese of your choice if adding.
  • 4.) Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking periodically. Don’t let them burn!

  • 5.) Remove from the oven. Let cool and then break into pieces. Store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
